Recipricol Linking is the term used when two websites exchange links for mutual benefit. As long as you link to quality sites with good content that your visitors will actually want to visit then the exchange will benefit you and bring more traffic to your site. Recipricol linking has many benefits including :-

Traffic from another site - Since your site will be listed on another site, youll get visitors from that site on a regular basis. Some webmasters used to think that placing links to other sites will lose you visitors but research has shown that visitors only leave when they have finished reading everything on the site they want to read anyways.
Search Engine Traffic - Nearly all major search engines place sites with many quality incoming links higher in search engine rankings. The best example of this is the Google Page Rank system. The key word to remember is quality. Having 300 links point to your from poor quality websites isnt really beneficial. It is much better to get a link from a quality site.

Another thing to remember is that you should only link to sites that are relevant to your site. There is no point linking to a golf site from a cartoon site!

Setting up the Recipricol Link

There are many site available like LinksManager which arrange link trades though the quality of link exchanges in sites like this arent usually great and you usually find that your email bos is full of people with unrelated sites asking to exchange links with you. The best way to set up a link trade is through a Webmaster Forum or directly via email. To speed this process up, write a standard email which you can send to potential link exchangers. Heres an example of a standard email you could use :-

Dear [contact name], My name is [your name here] and I am the webmaster of [www.yourdomain.com]. We are a... [description of your site here]. I came across your site on [search engine name, eg. google etc] and think that we would both benefit by exchanging links. Your site will be listed at our links page which can be found here [www.yourdomain.com/yourlinkspage.htm;] Thank for your time -- I look forward to hearing from you!
